This performance, co-created by Canan Yücel Pekiçten and Filiz Sızanlı, takes its title from two photographs by Cansu Yıldıran entitled Who Are These Girls?. Focusing on the pastoral nature of the images, the performance explores the idea of bringing them outdoors to meet the elements of earth and water. Fragmented images are reassembled through the dancers’ bodies, forming a unified whole. As the sequence of the images shifts, the works move from interior to exterior space, finding new meanings.
“Is it more important to try to complete the fragmented photograph, or to find a way to live with what appears in between, alongside the subjects of the photograph? This is the viewer’s task.” — Onur Hamilton Karaoğlu
