Choreographed by Gizem Bilgen and performed by Barış Diker, Gizem Seçkin and Selim Cizdan, The Other Within Me [İçimdeki Öteki] unfolds across Hara’s indoor and outdoor spaces, exploring the tension between the self, the shadow, and the anima.
“Since the beginning of human existence, the monster has been portrayed as a threat. Over time, that threat has turned inward, and the central struggle has become confronting one’s own truth. Yet the monster is now a site of contestation where identity is continually reconstituted, as well as a figure of liberation. Rather than seeking the monster outside ourselves, we merely need to look in the mirror.
In the performance, three bodies speak their truths through different languages. Encountering the voices of the other within, arguing with them, and making space for them becomes both a beginning and an act of resistance. This is not a cacophony, but a constellation of inner voices heralding transformation and change. Along this journey, each witness will come face to face with their own truth.”

Dance at Hara
Since Hara’s opening, site-specific dance performances accompanying each exhibition have become one of the institution’s recurring practices. This tradition began with Chora, presented alongside Hara’s inaugural exhibition Soundscapes in 2023, and continued with Reflected Symphony (2024, There Is a Place), Who Are These Girls? (2024, Blossoms of Farewell), and The Performance of Jewellery (2025, Where in History Are We?). Following its premiere on Saturday, 13 June, The Other Within Me will be performed throughout the duration of the exhibition.
