Led by the Atölyepikolo team, this workshop is designed for children aged 6 to 9. Taking inspiration from Hilal Polat’s installation Nearest and Dearest, featured in the group exhibition The Promises of Monsters, the session will begin with a short exhibition tour. Together with the children, we will explore the relationship between our emotions and our behaviour.
Following this, children will create imaginative monster characters that watch over them and protect them from danger. They will then build large-scale puppets of these characters using a range of materials such as cardboard, paint, felt, buttons and leaves. At the end of the workshop, all the puppets will come together beneath the artist’s suspended sculptures.
