Conceived and directed by Hilal Polat, one of the artists featured in The Promises of Monsters, The Golden Apple comes to Hara’s pool stage for a night of “puppet theatre for adults”. Following the performance, a talk and Q&A will take place with curator Ezgi Hamzaçebi and Hilal Polat.
“Though now a little tired and a little gray, the three goddesses of eternal beauty have not given up their search for the happiness found in the love stories of old. When they encounter us mortals one evening, Aphrodite, Athena and Hera cannot resist repeating the question at the heart of their shared quest: Who is the fairest of them all? Reimagining these three goddesses through a contemporary lens, The Golden Apple takes us on an enchanting journey of puppetry, stories, songs and a beauty pageant of sorts. Here is a unique theatrical experience that invites us into a world more captivating than any beauty contest could ever promise.”
