“The Other Within,” specially designed for the exhibition Promises of Monsters, meets the audience once again. Choreographed by Gizem Bilgen and featuring Barış Diker, Gizem Seçkin, and Selim Cizdan, the dance performance spreads across Hara’s indoor and outdoor spaces, exploring the tension between the self, the shadow, and the anima.

“The monster has been presented as a threat since the existence of humanity. Over time, this threat has turned inward, and the fundamental issue has become confronting one’s own truth. Yet the monster is now a space of struggle where identity is reproduced and a figure of freedom. Instead of looking for the monster outside, it is enough to look in the mirror.

In the performance, three bodies speak their own truth through different languages. Encountering the voices of the other within, arguing with them, and making space for them is a beginning and an act of rebellion. This is not a cacophony, but the whole of the inner voices that herald transformation and change. On this journey, every witness will confront their own truth.”
