Blossoms of Farewell

07.09.2024 - 26.01.2025

Cansu Yıldıran’s debut solo exhibition takes its point of departure from The Dispossessed [Mülksüzler], a photographic series Yıldıran began in 2015 as a way of tracing her own family history. Centring on the women and natural landscape of the Black Sea region, including its rugged terrain, highlands, and villages, Blossoms of Farewell explores how survival can endure in a world where notions of identity and belonging are absent. The idea of “home” takes on a physical dimension in the exhibition space, seen through the lens of relationships, memories, and psychological perspectives.

As the first participant of the Haravan Artist Residency Programme, Yıldıran spent three months living and working at Hara, producing site-specific photo-sculptural installations for this exhibition. Spread across the building’s different floors, Yıldıran’s photographs shift in form and structure, giving rise to an alternative narrative shaped through photography. The exhibition invites viewers to reconsider the past through a lens where fiction and reality meet. In Blossoms of Farewell, Yıldıran brings to a close her nearly decade-long photographic journey that began with The Dispossessed.
