Program

Puppet-Making Workshop

Ages 6-9
20.06.2026

Detailed Information

Is an old teapot at home simply an object sitting on a table, or can it become a performer that comes to life through movement? How can an object that is missing a piece—or has one too many—grow larger than life on stage?

At Hara, we will gather broken, found and unused objects and do more than transform them: through puppetry techniques, we will bring them to life. Combining puppetry with practices of repair and object theatre, this workshop invites children to take design one step further. Rather than restoring things to their original state, we will give them new personalities and turn them into tools for expression.

Led by Anna Karayorgi, participants will begin by creating arms, eyes and a physical identity for their chosen objects using a variety of materials. Then comes the most magical part: an introduction to the fundamentals of Object Theatre. How do you direct an object’s gaze? How does it walk? How can its weight and breath be conveyed on stage? By animating the characters they have created, children will discover first-hand how an ordinary object can become an endless storyteller through the power of imagination.
