Hara Learning Programme
Postcards from the Garden: A Postcard from Hara
What stays with us when we remember a place? The colour of a tree, a fallen leaf, a window, or a tiny detail we might otherwise overlook…
In Postcards from the Garden: A Postcard from Hara, children explore Hara’s gardens and architecture through their own eyes and create a postcard inspired by what they discover. They collect and examine fallen leaves and natural materials during an autumn walk, then combine photographs of Hara, coloured paper, drawings and paint to create collages. A leaf might become a wing, a window might open onto an entirely different landscape, and real images might meet imaginary drawings. As they reinterpret Hara through the details they choose, children also add a short message or story to their postcards. The workshop invites them to discover how everyone can see something different in the very same place.
