Can a pinecone become a body, a branch a leg, and a leaf a wing?
In the “Pinecone Friends” workshop, children embark on a little exploration of Hara’s garden, taking a closer look at the shapes of pinecones, branches, and leaves they find on the ground. Inspired by Yaşam Şaşmazer’s Udagan, part of the The Promises of Monsters exhibition, the workshop invites children to discover how forms inspired by humans, plants, and animals can come together.
Combining natural materials they collect from the garden with colourful and textured art materials, children create their own three-dimensional creatures. At the end of the workshop, all the sculptures come together to form a small Pinecone Friends Garden, where each child gives their character a name and creates a story for them.
