Athens-born, Istanbul-based drummer Danae Palaka weaves together contemporary jazz, krautrock and electronic music with the energetic rhythms of Anatolian, Balkan and Afrobeat traditions.
Born into an Athenian musical family with roots in Istanbul, Danae Palaka moved to the city to explore its cultural heritage and reconnect with her own roots. Since then, she has continued to develop her practice across both local and international music scenes.
To date, Danae Palaka has performed at festivals and venues including Babylon Soundgarden, Blurred Edges Festival, Das Minsk, Eskişehir Caz Festivali, Sonified Festival, Avalon and KET.
For this concert taking place at Hara’s pool stage, Danae Palaka will be joined by Ömer Akalın on bass guitar, Nikos Dervisis on analogue synthesiser, and Ezgi Sevgi Can on saxophone.
